Synopsis
It's the storms that bring us together.
In the aftermath of Hurricane Maria in 2017, JUAN, the terminally ill Camacho family patriarch, opts to end his life, sparing his family from caring for him in the wake of a national crisis.
Two years later, GLORI, an artist from Brooklyn, is called back to Puerto Rico when ANGELA, the Camacho family matriarch, forgoes dialysis treatments to let nature run its course. Glori and her daughter, ODIE, are the family’s last hope for convincing Angela to continue her treatments.
ESPERANZA, the big sister and caretaker with her daughter ISSA, resents that everyone believes Glori can save the day. While TITO, the oldest brother, remains estranged from the family.
When they fail to change Angela’s mind, she convinces Glori, Odie & Issa to take her on a round-the-Island, “bucket-list” road trip. The girls soon discover Angela’s long-held secrets during the journey.
This family drama unfolds against the backdrop of Puerto Rico’s 2019 government protests and is an homage to the people & places that come to my mind for anyone who loves “The Island”.
Meet the Cast
Aida Rodriguez
Aida plays GLORI CAMACHO, a struggling artist from Brooklyn who returns to Puerto Rico to take her terminally ill mother on a bucket-list road trip across the Island. Aida has a fond and loving connection to Puerto Rico and her people.
AIDA RODRIGUEZ is American Actress/Comedian/Author of Puerto Rican/Dominican descent. As a top ten finalist on LAST COMIC STANDING (2014), she launched a stand-up comedy career touring the country with Tiffany Haddish and Kevin Hart.
In 2021 Aida's stand-up special, FIGHTING WORDS, premiered on HBO. In 2023 she released her first book “LEGITIMATE KID: A MEMOIR” by Harper Collins Publishers.
Alycia
Pasqual - Peña
Alycia plays ODIE CAMACHO, Glori’s funny, sarcastic and politically incorrect daughter.
ALYCIA PASCUAL-PEÑA is a New York native who began her entertainment career at three years old, performing in SHINE's acting, dancing, modeling, and singing showcases.
She began commercial work for Telemundo, Univision, and later experienced her television debut in NBC's "Chase" and Gregory Allen Howard's "The Plug".
Alycia's drive for positivity involves her in a plethora of community building organizations.
Priscilla Lopez
Priscilla plays ANGELA, the Matriarch of the family. Strong-willed but loved and respected by all. Her self-esteem is envied by her daughters. She is the glue that keeps this family together and the catalyst for their bucket-list road trip.
Priscilla Lopez is a Tony® Award winning actress with a storied career on and off-Broadway for over forty years in shows like A Chorus Line, Company and In the Heights. Her film credits include roles in Maid in Manhattan and Sleeping with the Fishes.
Jearnest Corchado
Jearnest plays ISSA, the quirky and enigmatic cousin through which we explore the differences and animosities between Island-born versus Mainland-born Puerto Ricans.
Jearnest Corchado is an award-winning Puerto Rican actress known for her dynamic performances in television and film. She gained widespread recognition for her roles in Little America, Sneaky Pete, and The Blacklist. Corchado is celebrated for bringing depth, authenticity, and emotional range to stories that spotlight culture, identity, and resilience.
